Diaspora communities adjust to their host cultures in a variety of ways. There are differences between the first generation of immigrants and the second or third generations. Over time certain elements of the original culture are lost more easily than others. Changes are often more rapid in the domain of material objects than in social relationships, whereas the worldview and values of the original culture are likely to be retained longer among the diaspora community.  .
