An Overview of Simple and Complex Control Strategies for Industrial Processes with Delay
摘要
It is crucial to develop control techniques that outperform the existing strategies by addressing the ever-evolving issues in process control. This chapter discusses the challenges in industrial process control, types of industrial processes (stable, unstable, and integrating processes), and practical examples for the same and various performance measures. For controlling the abovementioned industrial processes, various control structures such as single loop, double loop, and parallel cascade are used in practice. Hence, an overview of the abovementioned control structures and related literature is also presented. The essential requirements in industrial process control like disturbance rejection, setpoint tracking, system robustness, and smoothness of control signal are also discussed. Finally, guidelines are provided regarding the choice of control structure for various applications.
