Modelling of a Grid Integrated PMSG Wind Turbine System

In this chapter, we develop a grid integrated wind turbine technology, overcoming gearbox challenges. This designs, focusing on a variable speed system with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG), offer enhanced reliability, crucial for offshore installations. Using simulation, we analyse performance under varying conditions, highlighting the turbine’s capability to efficiently harness wind energy. This research provides valuable insights into modelling and analysing variable speed wind turbine systems, particularly with PMSGs, addressing changes in wind speed and Q-reference.
