摘要

This chapter presents a modified robust sliding mode control strategy for the precise controlling of magnetic levitation (maglev) systems focusing on improving tracking accuracy and transient response. A non-singular terminal sliding mode (NTSM) is designed for the maglev system which addresses singularity issues of the terminal sliding mode control (TSMC) by eliminating the limitations associated with complex values and constraints on the exponent of a power function. The work presented in this chapter focuses on a comparative study on the performance of the sliding mode controller (SMC) and NTSMC with the popular proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers.
