The review aims to inform the strategic integration of AI in STEEAM higher education, promoting tailored pedagogical experiences that harness AI’s potential while mitigating its risks. In the South African context, AI integration could revolutionise the learning environment, improve academic performance, and prepare students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). However, challenges like student preparedness, large class sizes, and inadequate curriculum design must be addressed. Policies, training programmes, and curriculum adaptations are essential for successful AI integration. By harnessing AI’s power, higher education institutions can improve service quality, administrative operations, and student learning outcomes.
