Early vs. Late Tracheostomy in Mechanically Ventilated Patients: The TRACMAN Trial
摘要
The TracMan trial compared early versus late tracheostomy placement in critically ill patients requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation. This multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) enrolled over 900 patients and assessed the impact of tracheostomy timing on survival and outcomes. The study found no significant difference in mortality between the early and late tracheostomy groups. The duration of ICU stay and hospital stay were also similar. The TracMan trial provided robust evidence that tracheostomy within 4 days of ICU does not lead to improvement in key clinical outcomes.
