3D Object Detection in Point Clouds

The detection of objects in 3D LiDARLight Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) point cloudsPoint clouds presents unique challenges in computer vision, particularly when balancing computational efficiency with detection accuracy. This chapter introduces an innovative approach to this challenge through IA-SSD, a highly efficient single-stage point-based 3D detector. At its core, IA-SSD addresses a fundamental observation in point cloud processing: not all points carry equal importance for object detection.
