This chapter examines the impact of human mobility and migration on the transmission of Ebola, as well as the lessons learned and best practices in responding to Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreaks. It focuses on cross-border surveillance, risk communication, community engagement, and health systems strengthening in resource-limited settings in Africa. Drawing from both published and grey literature, this chapter discusses how migration and human movement models can provide valuable predictions of EVD invasion in resource-poor settings in Africa, particularly in areas with limited mobility data. In addition, it highlights the challenges encountered during and after the epidemic. The authors conclude by proposing key interventions to enhance community engagement, improve surveillance, develop robust early-warning systems, refine predictive models, and coordinate national, cross-border, and regional public health responses. These measures aim to prevent, detect, and respond effectively to EVD epidemics.
