This chapter outlines the research methodology used to explore the lived experiences of newer-generation Korean New Zealander youth, focusing on ethnic relations, identity negotiation, re-ethnicization, and integration. Using semi-structured interviews, we recruited 30 1.5- and second-generation participants who grew up in New Zealand between the early 1990s and 2020s. Ten were born in New Zealand, while 20 migrated during early childhood. Interviews, conducted in 2019–2020 both online and in person, captured rich personal narratives shaped by the COVID-19 context. Data were analyzed through the interdisciplinary framework developed in the previous chapter, identifying diverse acculturation patterns. The chapter also reflects on researcher positionality and ethical practices, laying the foundation for subsequent empirical analysis.
