Fire-Structure Interaction on a Designed Naval Double Bottom Structure Using Finite Element Analysis

This study investigated the double bottom structure response to fires involving elevation and temperature depression in ship accidents. Fire accidents in maritime transportation can be fatal, so research is needed to improve the safety of ship structures, especially the double-bottom structure. This study used the ABAQUS application, a powerful tool for conducting finite element analysis with static coupled temp-displacement analysis. From the results of simulations conducted using ABAQUS software, the difference between the distribution of Von Mises stress contour and displacement value is directly proportional to the increase in temperature and depends on the type of material used.
