摘要

Dynamic analysis in impact cases will require a long simulation time, especially using complex geometries such as sandwich structures and petite mesh sizes. Simulations in dynamic analysis take a long time because they require extensive data, many iterations, and high accuracy. Determining the mesh size is very important in supporting the efficiency of numerical analysis. Mesh convergence needs to be done so that numerical analysis is more efficient and the results do not affect the mesh size. The validation stage was carried out using existing literature by comparing the residual velocity value of the projectile with numerical analysis, in this case, using ABAQUS software. The geometry in the validation stage is the same as in the literature. The material used is Al 1100 with Johnson-Cook model material. The mesh convergence results were obtained at a mesh size of 5 mm in the impact area. The stress, strain, and total displacement values obtained in this mesh configuration were 572.4 MPa, 11.06, and 44.5 mm, consecutively. Mesh convergence can reduce simulation and storage time so that simulations can run more efficiently.
