Blibliometrik Analysis of Biodiesel Fuel Research Trends: Developments and Future Prospects

Riven by the need for alternative fuels, biodiesel research is experiencing a surge. This study utilizes a novel bibliometric approach to analyze trends in biodiesel research (2000–2022), focusing on historical developments and identifying promising future directions. Unlike traditional reviews, this study goes beyond summarizing existing research. Data visualization uncovers underexplored areas with high potential, such as developing more efficient catalysts and effective waste management strategies. Scientific databases provided data on publication trends, author collaboration patterns, geographical distribution of research, and the most influential journals and institutions in the biodiesel field. The analysis revealed a significant increase in biodiesel publications, particularly in the last decade, reflecting growing global interest in renewable energy. Additionally, the research identified leading countries (US, China, Brazil) and institutions in biodiesel research, with a positive trend in international collaboration. Dominant research areas include production from renewable feedstocks, efficiency improvements, and environmental impact assessments. This study, however, delves deeper, pinpointing emerging research opportunities crucial for future advancements. By offering a comprehensive overview, this research provides valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. These findings can guide future research directions to propel biodiesel technology forward and address global energy challenges.
