A Mini Review of Magnetorheological Damper Application for Heavy Equipment Seat Suspensions and the Testing Methods
摘要
The effort to improve operator comfort and safety in heavy-duty machinery has gained interest in the development of advanced seat suspension systems. Among the various alternatives, magnetorheological (MR) dampers stand out for their adaptability and responsiveness to varying operational terrains. This survey provides a concise yet comprehensive overview of MR damper-based seat suspension systems for heavy equipment, highlighting the transition from passive to semi-active and active systems, and examining their respective advantages and limitations. Key design considerations, such as the balance between energy efficiency and maintenance demands, as well as integration with ergonomic and health monitoring systems, are discussed. Based on the studied literature, the classification of heavy equipment vehicles reveals trucks, dump trucks, cranes, horizontal platforms, and excavators. Main suspensions are the most researched, followed by cabin and seat suspensions, highlighting a focus on stability, comfort, and safety. Despite the progress, the field of seat suspensions for heavy equipment still requires further exploration, particularly in developing more intelligent and responsive systems. Additionally, this paper discusses the mechanisms of test benches used for testing semi-active seat suspensions, underscoring the need for advanced testing methods to evaluate these systems comprehensively. This survey aims to catalyze further research towards more integrated and effective seat suspension systems for heavy equipment.
