This book focuses on high-temperature hydrothermal convection systems, including the challenging efforts for next-generation high-temperature geothermal explorations. In this chapter, the thermal structure of the Earth’s interior and thermal energy emitted from the Earth’s interior are first overviewed. Then, the world’s high-temperature geothermal systems are briefly described. General aspects of the high-temperature geothermal systems are also summarized.
