Fundamental Steps in Additive Manufacturing
摘要
Chapter 2 covers five fundamental steps in additive manufacturing. First of all, 3D models are created using CAD software. Such models are then converted into standard tessellation language (STL) format so that they can be processed by 3D printers. The next step is to set up printing parameters of 3D printers to meet stringent requirements of end-users. Once 3D printing set up is completed, the manufacturing process can be started. Removal and clean-up processes are conducted after 3D printed part is entirely built. Some printed parts rely on the post-processing step in order to further improve their surface finish and mechanical strength.
