Autoimmune connective tissue diseases (AI-CTDs) comprise a heterogeneous group of disorders which have a common pathogenesis involving immune-mediated damage to the structural proteins. Dermatologists play a key role in initial recognition and management of these diseases as cutaneous manifestations are often one of the earliest clues for diagnosis. This chapter summarises the major AI-CTDs and focuses on common skin findings and targeted diagnostic approaches.
