In this chapter, I will mainly make a prospective discussion of future translation studies. The discussion will be directed upon the theory guiding applied researches and upon the pure theory guiding theoretical researches. The former is mainly concerned with the hot points in translation studies, say, the relationship between translation theory and practice, the positing of the “multi-disciplinarity” of TS, and so on; the latter focuses on the construction of translation methodology, the possibility of other research chains of application-theory-pure theory, and so forth. I will only make an outlook on them by demonstrating the legitimacy and feasibility of the inspirations and guidance that they can offer to future translation studies.
