Community group buying has emerged as a prominent shopping model in response to China’s rapid urbanization and the evolving demands of consumers. However, the increasing competition within the sector has posed significant challenges for many platforms, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in retaining both consumers and group leaders. To address these challenges, this chapter examines the factors that influence consumer participation in community group buying and the willingness of group leaders to join platforms, adopting a dual-perspective approach. Building on these factors, we designed and conducted a comprehensive survey. Finally, drawing from empirical findings, we propose strategic recommendations aimed at optimizing platform operations from both the consumer and group leader perspectives. These strategies are intended to enhance market competitiveness, refine operational practices, and support the sustainable development of community group buying platforms.
