Implementation of Inexpensive Android-Based ESP8266 Home Appliance Control System
摘要
The popularity of home automation has been rising with the increasing capability of Android phones. The challenge lies in reducing cost and increasing services for monitoring and control, which has been attempted in this study. Household lighting and other electrical appliances may be connected via a home network with a pc, permitting remote internet access. Through the integration of information technologies with the home environment, methods and appliances can be connected, resulting in convenience, power efficiency and security. Of the available GSM, Wifi and Bluetooth, Wifi is being selected for its compatibility and capability. This project is on the design of home automation and security system using a Raspberry Pi, credit card sized computer. Raspberry Pi provides the specialty of a minicomputer, together with its GPIO pins where other devices can be connected. The home appliances are connected to the input/output ports of Raspberry Pi along with the power strip and the status is passed to Raspberry Pi. The android running OS in any phone connected to a network can access the status of home appliances via an application. It displays the design and implementation of automation processes that can guide and control home appliances via android phone or tablet. We used budget-friendly parts like the ESP8266 microcontroller (a Chinese version of Raspberry Pi), motion sensors, DC lights, relays, and PVC boards to keep costs low.
