Agricultural Waste Biomass Management and Biochar Production
摘要
Agricultural production globally generates substantial solid waste, leading to environmental pollution, economic losses, and health issues when poorly managed. Developing eco-friendly, cost-effective waste management technologies is essential, among which, an effective solution is the convertion of agricultural waste into value-added products like biochar. Biochar, a porous, carbon-rich material produced from organic sources like crop residues through pyrolysis, offers significant environmental benefits. It enhances soil fertility, aids in pollution control, and sequesters carbon, making it valuable in sustainable fuels, soil remediation, and bioremediation. This chapter explores biochar production from agricultural waste, focusing on pyrolysis processes and biochar’s applications. Some properties of biochar, such as its high carbon content and oxygen-rich functional groups, make it ideal for improving soil health and addressing environmental challenges. Converting agricultural waste into biochar provides a sustainable solution for waste management while offering numerous environmental benefits.
