Literature indicates that a small but significant proportion of severe circular saw injuries occur among students during school coursework. The high-risk nature of this equipment requires teachers to address both operational instruction and additional safety management concerns. However, existing literature predominantly focuses on basic operational protocols, with limited attention to teaching methodologies and safety management strategies specifically designed for novice operators (students) beyond standard protocols. This study employed qualitative research methods, conducting semi-structured interviews with four teachers experienced in circular saw instruction to investigate teaching strategies, safety management approaches, and student operational challenges in practical classroom settings. The findings reveal that in terms of teaching methodology, “First demonstration of Cross-cut, then Rip-cut” (9.0%) was identified as a crucial pedagogical sequence by experts. Regarding safety management, which encompasses safety, equipment, and material management aspects, “Rules for using the cross-cut fence and rip-cut fence” (22.5%) emerged as the most significant concern, highlighting the critical role of safety management in instruction. In the material management dimension (5.6%), experts emphasized that “selecting softer materials for cutting practice” positively impacts student learning. The study also identified student operational challenges, particularly regarding operational attitudes, including “initial operational anxiety” and “overconfidence behaviors.“
