Emerging Technologies and Changing Communication Ahead

  • Manash P. Goswami

摘要

Emerging technologies are innovative advancements that are currently in the early phases of development. They have immense potential to bring about an unprecedented impact across different sectors, including communication. These technologies leverage computing power, data analytics, connectivity and artificial intelligence (AI) breakthroughs to create new capabilities and efficiencies. The way people communicate and share information has already been transitioned by technologies like 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and AI. They enable faster, more reliable communication, smarter homes, and more efficient industrial processes. Communication technologies have evolved from traditional media to digital and interactive formats, with mobile technology and high-speed networks playing crucial roles. Emerging technologies enhance connectivity, accessibility, efficiency, innovation, security, economic growth, and social inclusion. Virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) offer immersive experiences, while AI transforms communication through chatbots, content production, and predictive analytics across platforms. Blockchain technology provides secure and decentralised communication platforms and IoT creates interconnected ecosystems. However, adopting these technologies poses ethical issues and challenges, including privacy, data security, bias, and access inequality. Addressing these issues requires an equilibrium between innovation and ethical considerations to ensure responsible use and equitable access.
