Correspondence Rules and Classification of Persian Quantitative Poetic Meters
摘要
In this chapter, the correspondence rules of Persian poetic meter are described based on Abol-Hasan Nadjafi’s theory. Nadjafi has divided Persian correspondence rules into three general categories: “optional variations” (including two rules), “exceptional variations” (including three rules), and “metrical variations” (including six rules). It will be shown that optional variations are the same as metrical rules, and both “exceptional variations” and “metrical variations” are in fact the same as linguistic (or prosodic) rules. The chapter ends with a brief description of the classification of Persian numerous meters and a complete sample of that classification with citations.
