The COVID-19 pandemic brought many changes, including how healthcare services are delivered. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, while face-to-face services were restricted, transformation in health service technology was perceived as a solution. The aim of this chapter is to provide a conceptual framework on the transformation of the health technology utilization before, during, and after COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Furthermore, this chapter also describes the challenges and opportunities of health technology usage in developing countries post-pandemic crisis. This chapter serves as a discussion work highlighting the evolution of healthcare technology systems following the pandemic crisis. It aims to discuss the utilization of technology and internet-based healthcare services in these countries before, during, and after the COVID-19 outbreak, evaluating their impact on patient well-being, identifying opportunities and challenges associated with technological advancements in healthcare, and providing recommendations to enhance the sustainability of such transformations. Utilizing previous research from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, ProQuest, and Wiley, supplemented by additional sources from Google Scholar, the authors employed specific keywords to retrieve relevant literature. The previous studies were combined, presented, and discussed thematically. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the adoption of technology-driven healthcare services, offering benefits like improved access to online health services and potential enhancements in psychological well-being. However, challenges in developing countries include insufficient government support, policy gaps, limited stakeholder engagement, lack of standardized telemedicine protocols, financial constraints, inadequate infrastructure, and difficulties in collaboration with technologically advanced nations. With the aid of robust internet connectivity and better collaboration, developing nations can cultivate various health technologies including robotics, telehealth, telemedicine, health applications, cloud storage, and other artificial intelligence-driven applications, aiming to enhance public well-being. This development trajectory is not restricted to periods of pandemic crisis but extends beyond, encompassing endeavors to bolster populations’ overall health and welfare. Collaboration and ongoing improvements are essential for ensuring the sustainability of technology-based healthcare services in developing countries.
