Swelling is an ubiquitous phenomenon of absorption of mostly liquid by solids resulting in an increase of volume of the solid. In this chapter, the swelling of cross-linked polymeric materials is concentrated and is focused mainly on modeling of swelling based on existing theories of polymer solutions and polymer chain elasticity. Phase separation in gels and during gel formation including volume phase transition is also explained.

摘要

Swelling is an ubiquitous phenomenon of absorption of mostly liquid by solids resulting in an increase of volume of the solid. In this chapter, the swelling of cross-linked polymeric materials is concentrated and is focused mainly on modeling of swelling based on existing theories of polymer solutions and polymer chain elasticity. Phase separation in gels and during gel formation including volume phase transition is also explained.
