Inclusive Careers for Dual-Career Couples
摘要
This chapter explores the rise of dual-career couples as an increasingly important yet overlooked demographic in talent and mobility strategies. With more women leading international career moves and younger professionals expecting support for both partners, the chapter challenges outdated terms like “trailing spouse” and calls for a reframing of dual-career dynamics. Drawing from academic research, global data, and coaching engagements across sectors, the chapter highlights how organizations and governments differ in their approach from visa restrictions to inclusive hiring practices. At the heart of the chapter is the introduction of the Intelligent Career Card System (ICCS), a career platform created by Michael Arthur, PhD, that helps dual-career couples make informed and values-based decisions. Through real-world examples and a detailed case study, the chapter illustrates how the ICCS enables couples to examine career choices collaboratively, align aspirations, and avoid sacrifice-driven decisions. It also offers practical coaching methods and questions that help organizations and professionals navigate complex trade-offs in mobility and career progression. This chapter invites organizations to move beyond compliance and embrace dual-career support as a strategic, inclusive investment in their global talent pipeline.
