Melanin-related lesions present with various symptoms and are caused by multiple factors. However, the treatments for these lesions are also complex and involve a range of techniques. Energy-based devices (EBDs) and drug therapies form the foundation of treatment modalities. EBD treatments typically include photon-mediated, electron-mediated, and sono-mediated therapies. In particular, broad-spectrum anti-melanin treatments (broad-spectrum anti-melanics) represent a crucial innovation. For conditions like melasma and postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), a combination of melano-cidal and melano-static therapies is necessary. Melano-cidal treatments work by destroying melanosomes or melanin, and, in some cases, lead to cell lysis. On the other hand, melano-static treatments preserve the cells while promoting the clearance of melanin. Therefore, major treatment approaches for melanin-related lesions now emphasize melano-static therapies.

摘要
