This study aims to identify learners’ behavioral characteristics by analyzing eye movements during multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Three types of MCQs were set to analyze eye movements: history, mathematics, and shopping. Each of the three types of questions has a different cognitive process. Regions of interest (AOIs) were set to examine eye movements during question-solving in different cognitive processes. From an analytical point of view, the AOIs were classified into questions and four multiple-choice areas. The questions were presented on PPT slides. Eighteen participants participated in the experiment, with an average age of 22.6 years. We measured eye fixation metrics (Fixation count, Fixation duration) while participants solved a question. We found different fixation patterns depending on the type of questionnaire item. For the three question types, eye fixation on the view the participant chose was high. Also, the percentage of correct answers was the same for the 1, 2, 3, and 4 multiple-choice views. However, eye fixations were higher in views 2 and 3 in the multiple-choice view, as participants sometimes guessed the question. This study can contribute to investigating eye movement patterns in multiple-choice questions.
