This study introduces a computer vision-based control system that removes traditional components such as steering wheels and pedals in level 3+ autonomous vehicles to maximize interior space. The system mimics conventional driving for easy adoption by current drivers. We set up a remote-controlled test vehicle environment with six detailed tracks and conducted experiments comparing this new system with traditional methods, assessing usability among twenty licensed drivers. Results indicated comparable ease of use, satisfaction, and learning ease, prompting future research directions. This study’s significance lies in its enhancement of space efficiency and the ease of learning the interaction method for existing drivers.
