Bridge Employment’s Effects on Retirees’ Mental Health
摘要
Many retirees pick up their careers again for a variety of reasons. Some of them have to do with escaping the loneliness they developed after retiring. It also includes finding another financial resource that aids in starting a business or living a respectable life. Bridge employment is the term for this new endeavor. The fact that the new work enables employees to meet unmet demands is crucial. The objective of this research is to study the effects of bridge employment on retirees’ mental health. In addition, this research aims to answer the following questions: A semi-experimental approach was used to answer these questions among a sample of retirees (males and females) from the education sector, which were split into experimental and control group (18 subject each). Results showed that employees who have started a bridgework have much better mental health than retired employees who don’t do any bridge employment at all, and the mental health of part-time workers is higher than that of full-time workers. The mental health of the elderly is affected by a variety of issues (physical, psychological, and health-related). This research has shown that engaging in part-time work contributes to increasing the mental health of retired elderly.
