This chapter turns to detailing the challenges in language education, particularly in the Anglophone context. First, these challenges are explored more generally within this context, before turning specifically to Australia’s language education challenges. Factors affecting students’ language subject choices at school are then explored, comprising popular motivations along with the possible barriers that students encounter.
