Confucius is the founder of Confucianism and one of the forerunners of ancient Chinese literary and artistic thoughts. Throughout Confucius’ life, he focused on the concept of KejifuliKejifuli, restoring rites and social value by self-cultivating and self-restraining. Although Confucius and his followers’ thoughts did not come true as practical results, they were important for the development of mainstream Chinese culture in later generations, particularly in shaping the official ideology. The ancient Chinese literary and artistic school which emphasizes social education can be traced back to Confucianism.
