The era of illusion of ‘future cities’ must come to an end. This seductive fantasy of so-called “future cities” has derailed our thinking for far too long [3]. It is time we shift our gaze from hollow prophecies to the pressing reality of the future of cities. We must confront the shallow comfort of business-as-usual narratives and reject the market-driven theatrics that parade under the banner of “sustainability” [4]. Some are perhaps right; sustainability has become a very much politically-diluted and business-oriented plan. These are not solutions, they are distractions. Just like when in the name of democracy, the same trends of corruption, inhumane measures, evil acts, and political conflicts exist.
