Urban Identity Beyond the Aesthetic Fabric of the Advanced City
摘要
Beyond symbolic gestures or representational aesthetics, the advanced city’s cultural dimension lies in the ingrained identity that a city conveys through its architecture, spatial memory, cultural layers, and sense of belonging. Within the larger “Culture” aspect of urban development, this chapter critically examines “Identity” as an operational category. In urban studies, identity is sometimes viewed as an ethereal or sentimental concept; nonetheless, the advanced city demands that it be precisely defined, analyzed, and organized. The identity of a city is its cultural trademark, which is manifested through its physical layout, sense of place attachment, historical continuity, and heritage systems. Within the city’s changing spatial-temporal story, each of these components operates both independently and in concert with one another.
