Green Digital Economy and Sustainable Legal Development

The green digital economy has emerged as a complementary strategy in the effort to ensure sustainable growth. It is a combination of digital technologies and environmentally responsible economic practices that allows practicing more efficiently, low-carbon, and resource-conscious. Quick economic growth without proper regard for the environmental and social effects may cause long-term risks, which may involve depletion of resources, pollution, social disturbance, and financial inefficiency. Sustainable legal development offers a platform upon which these risks can be handled so that economic growth can be achieved with regard to environmental conservation and social accountability. It entails setting, enacting, and enforcing laws, regulations, and policies that advance responsible practices in the economic, societal, and environmental aspects. Sustainable legal frameworks in BRI economies facilitate the setting of standards in areas of environmental protection, corporate responsibility, social inclusion, and financial integrity. Findings of this chapter reveal that through the implementation of digital solutions, the countries will be able to minimize the ecological footprint of economic operations, bring green investments, and promote innovation without losing their competitiveness in global markets.
