Scrutiny of Challenges Regarding the Digital Economy Within the Digital Silk Road

This chapter investigates technological and infrastructural constraints, such as the lack of digital connection, cybersecurity threats, and disparities in access to high-tech technologies. The chapter also discusses legal and regulatory issues, especially fragmented regulatory frameworks, issues on data protection, and jurisdictional issues in digital cross-border operations. Besides, geopolitical and diplomatic issues, including digital sovereignty, strategic competition, and regulatory divergence, are addressed, as well as financial and investment barriers to building digital infrastructure. This chapter suggests possible solutions and policy proposals that revolve around harmonization of regulation, capacity development, multilateral co-operations, and sustainable investment strategies.
