The digital economy of China emerged as one of the most effective force in the modern economic growth and globalization. With the development of digital infrastructure, China has successfully implemented digital technologies in its domestic business and in foreign economic activity. The chapter also assesses the possible economic, social, and technological effects of the digital rise in China on BRI partner states. Specific focus is put on legal and regulatory factors, such as data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory coordination. With its accessible and comprehensive discussion, this chapter makes a contribution to the understanding of the strategic role of the Chinese digital economy in the formation of the path to the BRI.
