Empirical Analysis: Multi-dimensional Evaluation and Spatiotemporal Variation of Territorial Space Use Efficiency in Chinese Cities

  • Yin Ma

摘要

This chapter measures the TSUE of 340 Chinese cities from 1990 to 2020 based on PLES theory and integrates the GeoFA, GeoDEA, and extended CA models. It establishes a complete evaluation indicator system to calculate PSUE, LSUE, and ESUE, then explores the spatiotemporal evolution and spatial autocorrelation of the three segmented efficiencies as well as overall TSUE, and further predicts their changing trends by 2030. Empirical results indicate that PSUE, LSUE, ESUE, and overall efficiency present differentiated temporal variations with 2010 as the critical turning year, accompanied by prominent spatial imbalance and obvious positive spatial agglomeration. The prediction demonstrates that overall TSUE will achieve steady growth before 2030, while intercity spatial disequilibrium cannot be eliminated thoroughly.
