Communication Strategy to Combat AMR
摘要
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant global health threat, requiring effective communication strategies to drive awareness and behavioural change among diverse stakeholders. Communities, being the most affected and simultaneously the most complex to engage, are central to risk communication and community engagement (RCCE). A strategic framework for AMR communication is mandatory to emphasise principles of rights-based, evidence-based, people-centred, and culturally sensitive approaches. The 3Ts—technical accuracy, transparency, and trust—are highlighted as foundational pillars for effective communication. Objectives of RCCE include raising awareness, promoting responsible antibiotic use, enabling behaviour change, fostering collaboration, and strengthening health systems. Implementation demands context-specific, participatory methods to counter misinformation and overcome cultural, linguistic, and structural barriers. Tailored messages for communities, professionals, and policymakers are vital to inspire action and sustain change. Various tools—ranging from educational campaigns and social media to stakeholder engagement—are available, though they have challenges and pathways to impactful outreach. Ultimately, RCCE aims to simplify AMR complexities and catalyse sustained behavioural transformation for rational antimicrobial use across human, animal, and environmental health.
