Fine Characterization Technology for Carbon Dioxide Storage Bodies

The effective geological storage of CO2 requires that the reservoir possesses good sealing conditions, with no leakage pathways, and that the reservoir pressure, porosity, permeability, and caprock stability are all within suitable ranges. Small-scale geological structures serve as potential pathways for CO2 leakage and seepage; therefore, high-precision and high-efficiency prediction of geological structures is an effective means of evaluating storage sites. The elastic parameters of the reservoir are key to characterising its properties, making the accurate acquisition of these parameters a crucial objective in exploration. Pre-stack seismic data contain abundant information on amplitude variations, and utilising this information enables the effective determination of sensitive reservoir parameters. This section introduces key seismic exploration technologies for CO2 geological storage, focusing on two aspects: intelligent identification of small-scale geological structures and high-resolution prediction of reservoir elastic parameters.
