Theoretical Framework in Second Language Pragmatics

  • He Yang

摘要

This chapter outlines the theoretical foundations of the present study. It introduces key concepts in pragmatics and second language (L2) pragmatics, with particular attention to the nature of pragmatic competence and its development. The chapter then reviews major theoretical perspectives, including speech act theory and politeness theory, as well as sociocultural theory and language socialisation, which together provide complementary insights into how pragmatic knowledge is developed and enacted in context. The chapter concludes by highlighting the relevance of these frameworks for the design and interpretation of the present research.
