Axillary Osmidrosis (Bromhidrosis)

The authors have over 24 years of experience with more than 500 surgical cases of axillary osmidrosis. Osmidrosis causes significant social inconvenience due to malodor. Treating osmidrosis is a challenging field, despite multiple approaches, including open excision, laser, ultrasound, and infrasonic/micro-vibration liposuction. Each of these methods has its own limitations (e.g., scarring with open excision; incomplete gland clearance with energy-only methods). To overcome these limitations, we describe a five-step FARBE protocol that preserves the benefits of excision while minimizing scars and improving durability of results.
