Integrated Project Delivery in Saudi Arabia: Procurement Challenges and Contractual Adaptation Strategies

This research paper investigated the barriers facing the adoption and implementation of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) in the construction industry of Saudi Arabia. Which included a survey of 31 construction professionals, highlighted a critical gap between traditional procurement and IPD. Results indicated that legal/contractual barriers, specifically the lack of standardized contracts and complex multi-party agreements, are the primary obstacles. Followed by cultural and behavior barriers. Findings demonstrated strong alignment between IPD and Vision 2030 goals regarding efficiency. The research proposes a sequential adaptation priority: contractual standardization followed by regulatory reform and cultural transformation.
