摘要

Molecular cloning has advanced from a basic recombinant DNA technique to a vital platform for modern biological research, medicine, and biotech applications. This chapter discusses various cloning vectors and systems, including plasmids, bacteriophages, and cosmids, each designed for specific genome manipulation tasks. It highlights advanced methods like Gateway and Golden Gate cloning, which provide greater modularity and flexibility compared to traditional techniques. The chapter also covers the principles and applications of cloned gene expression, emphasizing the development of expression vectors, host selection, and factors that affect protein production. These approaches are essential for manufacturing industrial enzymes, therapeutic proteins, and vaccines. Looking ahead, the chapter explores future tools such as genome editing, CRISPR, synthetic biology, and automation with artificial intelligence, aimed at improving accuracy and scalability. Overall, these advancements confirm that molecular cloning remains a key driver of innovation in medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology.
