Socio-economic Perspectives on Genetically Engineered Crops: From Farm to Market Worldwide
摘要
Farmers around the world vary greatly in the crops they grow and the conditions they face. The introduction of genetic engineering technology has the potential to bring about significant social and economic impacts. To combat hunger among food-insecure populations both on farms and elsewhere, more GE crops and traits are needed to boost yields, defend against stresses, and improve nutrition. However, the success of GE crops in reducing hunger ultimately depends on the social and economic environments in which they are developed and used.
