Cybersecurity Vulnerability and Organizational Performance: A Systematic Literature Review

The impact of cybersecurity vulnerability on organizational performance is significant in terms of vulnerable sensitive information, disruption of operations, higher costs, and lack of confidence. Effective security measures enhance productivity, resilience, and organizational efficiency in general. This chapter researches the cybersecurity weaknesses and how this weakness affects the organizational efficiency. To examine the associations between cybersecurity threats, such as those of hacktivism, cybercrime, and cyber spying, and the key performance indicators, such as reputational damage, operational effectiveness, and financial stability, a systematic literature review method was used. Data were collected via EBSCOhost, Elsevier, ProQuest, Wiley-20, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar and were reviewed and analysed through Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA). As technology and information systems expand globally, businesses must stay ahead of the curve by enhancing security measures and proactively resolving authentication and authorization vulnerabilities that could jeopardize confidentiality and availability. Research shows that hacktivism, cybercrime, and cyber espionage harm organizational performance. To combat these risks, companies must create backup systems to protect client and customer information from hostile threats.
