The Influence of AI Threats on Employee Behavior and Turnover Intentions

This chapter explores the relationship between the Threat of Artificial Intelligence (TAI) and employee turnover intention, emphasizing the roles of role ambiguity and knowledge hiding behavior. This study employs a quantitative approach using PLS-SEM to analyze how perceived Artificial Intelligence (AI) threats influence turnover intentions. The findings indicated that the Threat of AI (TAI) had a significant positive impact on Turnover Intention (β = 0.289, p < 0.001), Role Ambiguity (β = 0.368, p < 0.001), and Knowledge Hiding Behavior (β = 0.670, p < 0.001). Additionally, Role Ambiguity (β = 0.119, p < 0.01) and Knowledge Hiding Behavior (β = 0.259, p < 0.01) significantly increased turnover intention, while the mediating effect of role ambiguity (H4) was not supported. The implications of these findings highlight the need for organizations to foster transparent communication and supportive environments to reduce role ambiguity and prevent knowledge hiding. By actively engaging employees in discussions about AI, clearly defining job roles, and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing, organizations can mitigate turnover intentions. This study contributes and offers insights for future research to examine additional factors influencing employee responses to technological changes.
