Basic Education With AI: Focusing on Quality Cultivation and Integration of Teaching in China

This chapter systematically elaborates on the process, path, and challenges of the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology with basic education, with the core being to promote the paradigm shift of education from knowledge imparting to quality cultivation. The research indicates that artificial intelligence education has generally become a national strategy worldwide. In China, a three-level curriculum system of “national standard setting, local connection, and school-based implementation” has been constructed, forming a systematic promotion framework, and significant progress has been made in curriculum construction and teaching model innovation. Especially the “teaching, learning, and assessment” integration practice empowered by artificial intelligence is giving rise to a new teaching paradigm that is precise, embodied, and individualized. However, this process also brings multiple risks such as educational and teaching alienation, value misguidance, weakened subjectivity, and resource and ethical security issues. Therefore, this chapter emphasizes that it is necessary to adhere to the principle of education for the people and enhance the digital literacy of teachers and students; return to the humanistic core of education; reshape the human–machine collaborative educational ecosystem; and through improving top-level design, strengthening core technology autonomy, implementing precise resource compensation, and constructing a diversified governance mechanism, lay a solid institutional foundation for the safe, fair, and sustainable development of artificial intelligence education, so as to ensure that the technological empowerment truly serves the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and fostering talents, and leads the educational ecosystem to a stable transformation towards intelligence, quality-oriented, and human-centered in the future. The deep integration of artificial intelligence technology with basic education is driving the transformation of the educational ecosystem from knowledge transmission to quality cultivation. This chapter focuses on the core practical areas of artificial intelligence education in primary and secondary schools, systematically reviewing the policy evolution and typical practical experiences from three dimensions: curriculum system construction, teaching mode transformation, and educational equity guarantee. It reveals the internal logic and implementation path of artificial intelligence empowering the development of basic education to achieve high quality.
