Research on Simulation Testing Technology for Multi-Point Hinge Flap Mechanism Fracture Failures

Flaps serve as critical lift-enhancing devices during aircraft take-off and landing operations. Both military and civil aircraft are subject to safety and reliability requirements for flaps stipulated in various standards and airworthiness regulations. To validate flap safety and reliability following failure occurrence while obtaining relevant data for optimisation, conducting failure simulation tests is essential. This study investigates fracture failure simulation techniques for flap mechanisms. A failure simulation mock-up was designed for torsion bar fracture, and subsystem level failure simulation tests were conducted on a multi-hinge flap mechanism of a specific type. Accurate responses in flap movement time and angular displacement during failure were obtained, providing a basis for optimising design parameters of multi-hinge flap mechanisms.
