Applying ES and IE Concepts to Reduce the Risks of Medical Waste in the Dental Sector

摘要

Dealing with the waste issue poses a major challenge to the healthcare and public health sectors, especially with increasing population density and increased patient attendance. It has become necessary to constantly search for innovative and effective solutions to reduce environmental and health risks. ES and IE play a pivotal role in designing sustainable strategies for managing the issue, including medical waste and recycling, applying circular economy concepts, and improving the design of medical devices to reduce waste. The paper aims to present an appropriate environmental strategy for managing the risk of medical waste in a scientifically safe and sound manner, ensuring the safety and health of workers, patients, and the community. It focuses on monitoring and understanding the current situation and identifying the challenges facing the medical sector in implementing environmental measures to ensure smooth and safe medical operations. It indicates that integrating sustainable environmental strategies significantly contributes to reducing harmful emissions and improving the performance of the medical sector and hospitals, particularly in the dental sector, ensuring the safety of patients and workers. This research highlights the importance of utilizing administrative, engineering, and environmental approaches together to develop sustainable strategies for medical waste management in hospitals in general, and in the dental sector in particular. This enhances understanding of how IE can be applied to maximize sustainability in the healthcare sector, enhances the healthcare and promotes environmental awareness among workers and members of the community.
